OVERVIEW

The Full 5-Station State Psychomotor Exam is the required practical skills assessment for Connecticut EMS certification. It evaluates a candidate’s ability to perform essential emergency medical care in structured, simulated scenarios.

Candidates are tested in five areas: patient assessment/management (trauma), patient assessment/management (medical), cardiac arrest management with AED, airway management, and spinal immobilization or another state-designated skill.

Each station is scored by certified examiners using standardized criteria from the Connecticut Office of Emergency Medical Services. Candidates must demonstrate safe, organized, and clinically appropriate performance aligned with state protocols and national EMS standards.

Successful completion of all five stations is required for certification eligibility.
