Dear Fellow Easton Residents,

Easton Volunteer Emergency Medical Services is in need of your support. We are the sole provider of emergency ambulance service in the town of Easton and we are currently providing it with 37 volunteer EMT’s, MRT’s and Drivers. Over the last year, we answered 390 emergency calls for medical assistance. During that time frame our volunteer staff, combined, expended more than 11,000 hours to respond to your emergencies as well as train for these unplanned incidents to ensure Easton residents would be provided with the best possible emergency care.

In order to maintain this constant and professional level of care, we need more people to assist us with our work. We are currently scheduling a Medical Response Technician (MRT) course at the end of January. This class is designed for first responders such as EMS ambulance drivers, teachers, home health aide’s and persons interested in volunteering some time to their community. It’s also a valuable first step in exploring any interest in a career in emergency medicine. The training lasts approximately 3 months with classes held on Saturdays. EVEMS will also offer an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course in April of 2010. This course lasts approximately 4 months, 2 to 3 times a week and is the next step beyond the MRT in the training curriculum. Both courses offer the skills needed to work on an ambulance and learn skills that will save lives!

Currently only half of our 37 member roster are residents. We need the support from our residents to make that number grow. We offer the ability to make new friends and learn new skills. Many of our members go on to have successful careers brought on by training they have received through volunteering at Easton EMS. Should you be unable to join us in our work, we would be happy to accept your financial support to help further our cause, but PLEASE consider joining us. Thank You for your consideration and your support of Easton Volunteer EMS!

Sincerely,
Jonathan Arnold
