1) Easton EMS has 2 full-time EMT’s in the building from the hours of 7:00am to 3:00pm weekdays only.

a. Home responders (off duty EMS personnel) are encouraged to first respond for the day crew, as well as man the second ambulance as needed.

2) From 3:00pm to 6:00pm we staff EMS headquarters with two part time EMT’s.

a. Home responders (off duty EMS personnel) are encouraged to first respond for this crew, as well as man the second ambulance as needed.

3) At 6:00pm a crew of EMT’s and/or driver are scheduled to be on, this is the crew posted on the calendar at PD/HQ and what is mailed to the EMS member. The crew is not required to be at EMSHQ but most of the time they are.

4) Easton EMS does not have the facilities to have the on duty crew in the building overnight. Therefore the on duty crew responds from home. This is usually from 12am to 6am.

5) Between the hours of 6am and 7am, once again, no EMT’s are scheduled to be on duty. In this case EMS members will respond, if available, from home. (A private contract ambulance is placed at Route 59 and Glovers Lane during the weekday hour.)

6) On weekends from 6am to 6pm no EMT’s are scheduled to be on duty. In this case EMS members will respond, if available, from home.

7) State law requires 2 medically trained personnel, to be on board the ambulance to transport. If 2 medically trained personnel, one of which must be a driver, are not available, then the contracted mutual aid provider must be called. *Medically trained personnel are EMT’s or Paramedics. MRT’s must have an EMT or Paramedic with them in order to complete the crew.

8 ) Easton EMS, if possible, prefers to transport with a full crew of 3, either 1 driver and 2 EMT’s in back, or driver/MRT/EMT.

9) Easton EMS depends on home responder’s throughout much of the day, therefore members issued pagers and portable radios are asked to keep them turned on as much as possible. This way fewer calls will have to be rolled over to a mutual aid service, as well as preventing the same members from becoming burned out from responding to off duty calls over and over again.

10) For any call requiring a paramedic level of care, Nelson ambulance service of Bridgeport is contracted to provide paramedic intercepts. In the event that Nelson is not available, AMR will be notified.

11) Easton Police are our first responders for all EMS calls. They are all, at minimum, certified MRT’s and provide oxygen, basic first aid, and defibrillation.
